Milk jug turned chic

I am always looking on Pinterest for ideas when it comes to decorating my house (well lets be honest,  home decor is not the only think I'm obsessed with on there)! Anyways, while doing my nightly routine of surfing through home decor ideas, I came across an image of an up-cycled milk jug that I absolutely loved. Also, it just so happened that I had recently inherited a milk jug from my in-laws that seriously needed some refinishing. Score!

Below is my inspiration photo:

This is the milk jug I inherited from my in-laws:  She's a beauty!

I began with giving my milk jug a quick light sanding and cleaning. Once it was dry, I sprayed painted it with a copper colored paint I picked up from my local hardware store.

I had to apply 3 coats to get the coverage I was looking for.

Next I went through what craft supplies I had on hand already that I could use for this little project. Although I had most of what I needed, I still felt like I needed a few more items so I made a trip to my local craft store.

Items I used include:
  • Wheat & Pines cones that I had left over from a previous DIY project
  • Twigs that I found in my backyard
  • Strand of amber lights
  • Barber ribbon (wire), sunflowers, and extra foliage that I had picked up from my local craft store
When attempting to create any type of arrangement, it's very easy to get overwhelmed. It helps when you have something to reference back to when you have a moment of hesitation. I recommend going back to what first inspired you. I must have looked at my inspiration photo a dozen times throughout this whole process.

Here is my finished product!
