Single End vs. End-to-End Connections

One of the questions we get asked multiples times a week is if our light strands are single end connection or end-to-end connection. For some people, this topic is quite confusing especially when trying to make a purchase for novelty or commercial string lights. The main way to tell if it is a single end connection or an end-to-end connection is to look for a female plug. Every light strand has a male plug, this is the part that plugs directly into the wall and has the electrical prongs. If this is the only plug that the light strand has, then that means it is a single end connection.

For end-to-end connection, you will have the male plug on the one end of the strand and the female plug on the opposite end of the strand. This means that you can connect more than one strand together, continuously. However, most end-to-end strands will have a maximum wattage that they can support. If you are not using LED bulbs, then you will need to keep an eye on the wattage so that you do not blow a fuse. On our website we try to have the image below on our novelty string lights that are end-to-end connection, as well as the information in the “Features” column, to let our customers know if the strand they are purchasing is end-to-end or single end connection.

Are LED bulbs really worth the money?

A question that a lot of people ask is if LED bulbs are really worth the money. LED bulbs are more costly upfront, our medium base LED bulbs range from $3.50 to $18.95 per bulb depending on style and wattage equivalency, but use less energy thus saving you money in the long run. However, there are times when the cost of an LED bulb is not worth the initial investment.

LED bulbs are great for people who use a lot of electricity. If you're someone who may have their lights on in their backyard overnight, or if you leave a light on for your pet while you're away for the day, then the investment is definitely worth it. But if you're looking to replace a bulb that is in a closet  or a room that you use only for short periods of time each day, then the upfront cost would not be worth it unless you planned on living in your home for many, many years.

When weighing out the cost of upgrading your light bulbs to LED, think about how long you will be living in your space and if saving money on your electric bill each month is worth the initial investment to you.
